I spoke with a veneer lab and they told me that I had to have at least 4 existing teeth to be a candidate for the veneers. My top teeth are gone. There are pieces but no actual teeth-due to years of domestic abuse and being busted out or cracked.Over time chipped away .Ive not had money to go to the dentist but do try to take care of my mouth.I like the look of the veneers more than the denture. But would like to know before I invest alot of time to research if its not something I could do.Thank U!
Answer: Sounds more like dentures or implants Angel, From what you describe, veneers may not be an option as they are a cosmetic procedure requiring healthy teeth. Depending on what teeth you do have left and what position/level of health you may be able to have some bridges placed -- bridges connect teeth by covering the both tooth with porcelain to restore them and connecting them with fake, porcelain teeth in the span between the teeth. This again requires enough healthy teeth for proper planning. However, from the way you describe your upper teeth especially, you should probably look into dentures and implants. Implants can greatly improve the quality of a denture, and if you're able to place at least 4 implants in the right places, then you open up options like All-on-4 restorations which screws a denture-like prosthesis onto implants so they function like teeth and don't need to be taken in and out like traditional dentures do. Of course, I'd need to see your xrays and photos to give a good estimate, but it sounds to me like you're more in the implant restoration market. Best of luck,Andrew Currie, DMD, MS, DICOI

Answer: Veneers vs Dentures It is highly recommended that you see a dentist to evaluate the possibility of veneers. Veneers typically cosmetic restorations and need to placed on existing teeth. If you're upper teeth are missing, have large cavities, or have large fractures, veneers will not be an options. There are other options that a dentist can best determine after an initial exam is completed. There are many options that will allow you to get beautiful teeth and restore function.

Answer: Veneers vs denture Without radiographs and photos I cannot give you an opinion. I ways prefer to save a patients teeth. But if they are not in good health and will only last a few years it may be better to sacrifice them now

Answer: Veneers or dentures based on what you are saying, there is not much tooth left, and this could be the only thing you do not want with veneers, you need strong teeth, to perform veneers, on uppers there is no teeth, so denture, snap in dentures, or all on4, would be your best choice, you will have that area rehabilitated, within 1 visit. and this will make you look great and also restore the mouth function.
