5 days Post op. Is Genesis laser really safe( long term )?I've read so many negative comments about this laser on this site.

Question

I had my first Genesis + Excel V treatment for rosacea and broken capillaries 5 days ago with good results for the moment but I've read so many negative comments about this laser on this site ( long term facial fat loss, problems with skin texture and that this laser made them look older after a few months ) I wonder if I'm taking a big risk by doing these lasers ...do you often see long term damage or do most of patients keep doing it for years with good results and no negative outcome?

When paired with other lasers and treatments, our patients have had success with Genesis in regards to skin tone, redness, oil production, and pore reduction.The best treatments for capillary issues are vascular lasers (pulsed dye laser, Excel V, Aerolase, Venus Versa IPL, Laser Genesis or Yellow laser). The settings are determined on a per case basis, so it is best to consult with an expert to determine what will work best for you. We often combine vascular lasers with non-ablative fractional lasers such as Clear + Brilliant or Venus Viva for better results. I would suggest seeing a cosmetic dermatologist for a formal evaluation. Best, Dr. Emer.

Laser Genesis treatments do not cause enough heat to be generated to cause fat loss. In addition, this laser does not penetrate the skin deep enough to cause fat loss. I have been doing LG treatments for over five years and have never had this issue. I also have had them myself and love the results.

This is a very low risk laser. Remember a laser is only as good as the operator. Rosacea is very complex and a tailored treatment program will  give the best results. This is because there are many types of rosacea (telengtctatic or capillaries, flushing and redness, acne like rosacea, ocular rosacea and even rhinophyma rosacea.)
To add to the complexity, everyone has different flare factors- Sunlight, stress, foods, chemical irritants, creams, changes in temperature, alcohol. The list goes on. 
A detailed history, together with a treatment tailored according to YOUR type of rosacea will give the best results. As a guide, I use a combination of -
1. Lasers ( to treat redness, broken capillaries, rhinophyma, flushing)- best laser is the V BEAM. IPL can be used, but usually not as effective. Laser toning using the long pulse Nd Yag at 1064 can help with background redness. 
2. Creams - anti inflammatory
3. Tablets -anti - inflammatory and sometimes low dose Vitamin A. 
4. For females- Mineral make up is recommend, over make up that contains parabens. 
For the best results, consult a dermatologist for both medical and laser treatment options.
