Can an Otoplasty be covered under insurance if it were to be deemed medically necessary because of daily discomfort and pain? I am 22 years old and I suffer from pain and headaches daily because of my ears, not to mention the visual aesthetic... I can't lay my head on a pillow with my ear bent, or wear headbands without pain. Also, any sort of wind causes severe ear aches. I believe this is all due to how prominent my ears are and wanted to know if this could be fixed! Thank you.

Hi there. Is it possible to see any pictures, it will be easier to give you a good answer with picture. But i can tell you that after surgery for otoplasty, the ear are suppose to be in good position and not go back to pre surgery position. Good luck

Thanks for the question. After 6 weeks your surgery area is totally healed and yes you can do boxing and also do other activities. I wish you all the best.
Since ear shape is the result of cartilage and skin, surgical Otoplasty is a permanent procedure. If the surgeon used his experience and technique you should have a satisfactory and permanent result. At five weeks you may have asymmetries, tightness and discomfort....
