I am a 23 year old male, and my hair was not balding before the treatment, nor was it receding very much if any at all. I went through a few sheds but it returned to normal , and I did not have noticeable side effects. I have read that people who quit minoxidil become worse off than when they started because the hair becomes dependent on the drug. Is this true? How can I quit minoxidil? Can I ween myself off without damaging my Pre-minoxidil hair?
Answer: Minoxidil and hair loss Minoxidil is indicated for promoting hair growth, resulting in increased hair counts and total hair weight (i.e. re-enlarge the fine hairs) in patients with hereditary hair thinning. If you discontinue minoxidil, the gains made during the time you were on the medication will be lost, and you will be left with the same hair you were destined to have if you never were on the medication in the first place. You will not lose additional hair by stopping minoxidil. In order to determine what treatment options are best for you, an in-person consultation with a hair expert is best.

Answer: Understanding Hair loss and hair loss treatment options: Minoxidil, hair transplant, prp and progesterone Yes, you would need to keep using Minoxidil in order to keep your results. I suggest seeing a hair loss expert to evaluate and go over your condition and provide you information about your best treatment options. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone and/or hair transplantation. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Minoxidil - if it was working, you will notice the difference once you stop it In patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) minoxidil will help you to keep the hair you have. If you have AGA you will lose hair once minoxidil is out of your system. If you stop using it whether it is gradual or abrupt the end result will be the same.

Answer: I started using a generic forum of minoxidil 5%, 1 ml liquid forum, which I used twice daily for about 6 mouths consistently. Typically if you stop using minoxidil you will lose whatever gains you've made, and your hair reverts to where it would have been if you'd never used the medication. If you had been destined to have noticeable hair loss after you had started the minoxidil but didn't due to its use, you could lose this hair after you stop.
