I have to put in rubber bands for my Invisalign and I haven't done that for like 5 months - is that bad?

If you were instructed to wear rubber bands and you have not complied chances are your teeth are not shifting as they were planned to. You may need another round of trays if your teeth haven't shifted properly. Only your treating doctor can tell you if you should start wearing the rubber bands now.

Rubber bands are typically used to correct the bite (shifting the top teeth relative to the bottom teeth). So if you haven't been wearing your elastics (rubber bands) then you won't be correcting your bite. When you visit your orthodontist, he or she will make a recommendation as to whether to start wearing them again.
