I had breast augmentation over 2 years ago and I've been told my pockets are too large. It causes pain by my shoulders and my armpits. Is it necessary to fix it right away or will the pockets get any larger if I wait? I have dual plane, 400, 450 cc silicone.

Answer: Pain and large pockets Thank you for your questions.Large pockets classically cause malposition of the implants, often in certain positions. I am assuming you see this.Large pockets are not necessarily associated with pain.It is unpredictable if the malposition will get worse with time and there is no urgency regarding correction.I think that doing the surgery for pain relief would have to be very individualized as most patients do not have pain. A careful history and exam would be necessary to predict what the outcome of the surgery would be regarding your symptoms.Since you likely have another reason to undergo pocket revision (malposition), hopefully it will improve your symptoms as well. Good luck going forward
