Venous lake on lip - what is the best treatment for it? (photo)

I’m 42 years old healthy female with a venous lake on my lip. It’s been there for about two years. Two months ago I had a Lamprobe (RF) treatment that didn’t do anything. It scanned over then came back harder and a bit more pronounced. What’s a recommended treatment for getting rid of it? How many treatments are typically needed? What is a reasonable cost for the procedure?

Venous lakes are best treated with an Nd:YAG laser that addresses capillary lesions. Depending on the size of the venous lake, 1–3 treatments are usually required to reduce its appearance. The cost of this procedure varies from region to region. You can expect to pay anywhere from $150 to $250 per session.
These are usually harmless and do not pose a threat, but they can be removed. It is important to note that with any treatment, there is always a risk of scarring.

I have personally been treating venous lakes of the lips for over three decades with conventional electrocautery. Simply put, the treatment works, and has a proven track record for safety and efficacy, which unfortunately, as you have learned the hard way with the RF treatment, cannot be said for so many of the "bells and whistles" lasers and RF devices out there whose purported benefits are supported far more by device manufacturer backed marketing hype than any hard science. Make sure to consult with a board certified cosmetic dermatologist and not just any venue hawking the latest expensive fad device it just purchased. Best of luck.
