Question

5 wks post brow lift. I initially had a swollen knot on forehead that has improved. Daily I have a constant tight feeling to right side of head with a throbbing sensation. Almost like feeling your heartbeat in the area. If I touch certain areas of forehead and/or incision I get a pins and needles feeling in that same area. I contacted my surgeon because the throbbing is very distracting. Not necessarily painful but....there. He told me to call my PCP and that it sounded like a headache???!!

The tightness you are having 5 weeks after surgery is unusual but not unheard of, and should resolve. The pins and needles feeling is consistent with a nerve recovering.  Brow lifts stretch some of the nerves, and nerves can then react by a loss of sensation, increased sensation or pins and needles.  Your symptoms sound more likely to be related to the browlift than a headache.  Your PCP may be able to give you some helpful medication. The good news is that it is likely that with time the symptoms will continue to improve, and eventually go away

Thank you for your question. You may have a suture absorbing and causing inflammation near a nerve or a nerve may have been bruised during the procedure, and it is just healing.  Have your surgeon examine the area and assist you in determing the cause. I hope this helps!
