6 months post-op free nipple graft. Is it possible to have an infection after all this time?

Nipple grafts can be sore long after surgery.  It should be looked at by the plastic surgeon.  Sometimes it will require topical treatment of one type or another. You should not lose the graft at this time.

Yes an infection is possible at any time. With the symptoms you mentioned I would make an appointment to see your plastic surgeon as soon as possible.

to schedule an appointment with a local surgeon ASAP before things get
worse. A diagnosis can't be made without an exam.

Thank yourfor your question but it really requires anexamination to be certain.  It may represent a late stitch abcess but that would require an examiination to determine.  That said I would not worry about losing your graft as at this late date it is safely recieving blood supply from the underlying tissue.Dr. Corbin
