I have arthritis in back and doctor told me to lose weight.. I tried working out but the back pain is sometimes unbearable I'm tired of pain meds.

Your BMI may qualify for bariatric surgery although insurance requirements vary. Some insurances require you to have a major comorbidity related to obesity like obstructive sleep apnea, diabetes or hypertension. Some consider arthritis and some do not, some require 2 and some require 1 and some require none. Most patients have tried multiple diet plans before but it would be important to know that you are sticking to an organized structured meal plan that works for you as well as an exercise plan and how your weight loss is progressing. Of course it also depends on your goals are you looking to lose a few pounds or a lot of weight and how much? Have you tried pharmacotherapy or non surgical medical weight loss before? The base of any good weight management program is lifestyle changes and that should be your goal. The treatment should start with least invasive and work your way up from there in my opinion.
