I've always noticed that one side of my face is bigger and wider than my left, i broke my nose about a year ago and i started noticing it more. Its a big problem for my self esteem now. Id like to slim out the bigger part of my face even tho it looks like a skeletal problem. I used to chew alot on my bigger side as a kid then i got cavities and they always hurt when eating cold or hot things, so i switched to my left (slimmer) side ever since. Help would be appreciated and prices.

Answer: Facial asymmetry Hi, Thanks for this great question. When you look at most people's faces there is facial asymmetry. You have more shadowing under your left eye and less volume involving the left cheek. In terms of how to make this more symmetrical, I would not recommend slimming the right side of your face. The best approach would be to use dermal fillers to add volume to the left side of your face. By adding volume to the upper cheek this will also improve the shadowing under the eyes as well. The scaffolding of the face is made up of bones and an interconnected network of fat pads. When we use fillers on the upper face they lift and contour both the upper and lower face. Price really depends on the type of filler that is used and the amount that is needed. I recommend that you see a board certified dermatologist to further discuss which filler is best for you. I hope this is helpful. Kevin Cavanaugh, MD

Answer: Asymmetrical face and crooked nose - age 18. Hi, I have performed many facial shaping procedures using dermal fillers, facial implants (cheek, chin), liposuction and/or facelifts for over 30 years. Following my beauty principles, men look chiseled and handsome with angularity in the cheeks, chin and mandibular angles. From the photos, your cheeks are flat in the front (smaller and more weak on one side), the chin is weak as are the mandibular angles and the nose is asymmetric. This combines to create an elongated rectangularly shaped face. The following procedures would create a more ruggedly handsome face. Cheek augmentation with cheek implants to add angularity to the cheeks and mid face. This would be combined with liposuction to reduce the excess facial fat to further define the cheek shape. Chin augmentation, using a chin implant, to add projection to the chin creating harmony and balance to the lower face. I have performed many Chin Augmentations using chin implants for over 30 years. From the photos, your chin is weak. A weak chin creates an imbalance making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy and the lower face look short that de-emphasizes the lips and allows early formation of a double chin. Chin augmentation using a chin implant will add projection to the chin creating harmony and balance to the lower face. I have found that placement of a silastic chin implant, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess skin removal) to be very safe, quick, highly effective and far less invasive than a sliding genioplasty. I perform chin implant surgery in 30 minutes or less, often using a local anesthetic alone. In my opinion, you are a good candidate for chin implant surgery. Augmentation of the mandibular angles using a dermal filler (jaw implants have too many unwanted side effects IMHO) to add volume, angularity and flare to the jaw line.Rhinoplasty to refine the nose. It has been my experience that chasing symmetry in the face does not make the face more naturally attractive. In fact a quick online search will reveal studies making super symmetric faces that while very symmetric are not attractive. Your face has an average degree of asymmetry and can be made to look more handsome by creating angularity in the facial features discussed above. In contrast, reducing the larger cheek would decrease the existing amount of angularity in that cheek further weakening that facial feature...while this may make the cheeks more symmetric but will not make your more naturally attractive. Hope this helps.
