Thank you for your question and photos. It can take implantsanywhere from a couple weeks to several months to fully settle and soften. Itis hard to make any determinations without a little more information about yourprocedure. If you are concerned with the progress of your breasts during yourrecovery, I recommend discussing this with your surgeon. There are methods thatcan help to move the process along such as massage and the use of a surgicalbandeau. Best of luck with your recovery.
Dear Mamaofthree3,dropping of implants is part of the healing process and this occurs after the tissues surrounding the implants slowly relax, allowing the implants to settle into their final position. It can take about four to six months for the implant to drop down to their final position.I understand that you are worried about your implants are not dropping as expected. However, you are still in the early phase of the recovery period. Please do allow some time for the healing process to occur. If after six months, you are not satisfied with the appearance of your breast, you can visit your plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Mamaofthree3 thank you for your question and congratulations on having your surgery. Breast implants can take anywhere from 6-8 months to settle and soften up completely. Most patients will see softening of the breast within the first 3 months. Make sure to check with your board certified plastic surgeon on his or hers recommendation on massaging of the implants and post op care.
Hello Michigan. Thanks for your question. Generally speaking, most patients have softer breast after the drop and fluff has occur. This can be anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks after the operation. However, with tear drop breast implants it may be longer. Ask your plastic surgeon about what to expect and good luck!Dr. ALDO
Congratulations on having undergone the mommy makeover procedures. Generally speaking, breast implants will "drop" into the pocket that was created during surgery; the rate of breast implant "settling" may depend on factors such as size of breast implant pocket dissected, tightness of the overlying skin/muscle layers, and size of breast implant utilized. Normally, it takes about 3-6 months (for some patients longer) to see the final result. It is very common for one side to settle faster than the other. As this process occurs, patients' breasts generally soften significantly.I routinely ask my patients to wait at least 3-6 months before evaluating the end results of the breast augmentation surgery. This waiting time allows patients to (usually) physically and psychologically adapt to the new body image. It may take this period of time for the breast to soften and for the breast implants to settle ("drop and fluff").From the physiological standpoint, it takes many months ( and even up to one year) to see the final results of surgery. factors such as swelling, tissue contraction, skin redraping, implant shifting etc. come into play. From the psychological standpoint, patients undergo an “adaptation period" during which time they get used to the changes that the surgical procedure has brought about. Severe emotional swings can also occur after any type of surgical procedure. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be very pleased with.
Thank your for your question. Depending on the technique used and the type of implant used it can take up to 3 - 4 months for implants to settle into place. Your surgeon and his/her team may have special techniques or approaches to encourage the proper final position. Best of luck.
