Lip scar removal - what is the best procedure for this? (Photo)

I have a scar on my upper lip. I had an angioma that was removed with laser. I think the laser was excessive and I was left with a hole in my lip that was filled with raised scar tissue. I have applied corticosteroid injection without results. What is the best procedure for this? Thank you for your expert advice

I'm sorry you have experienced this. I have been cautioning my regular followers for years that the latest, supposedly "next big thing" lasers (as well as so many of the other"bells and whistles," fancy- named gizmos being hawked on social media as panaceas for just about everything) are really backed far more by the marketing and promotional hype than by any hard science. Sorry. For a venous lake or hemangioma on the lip, simple light electrocautery has worked well and has a many decades' long track record to back it up. For the present problem, you might wish to consult with an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist about the use of Scalpel Sculpting or light electrocautery to flatten the elevated scar followed by the use an appropriate concentration of intralesional corticosteroid to prevent recurrence.
