I am considering reducing forearm hair with a couple of IPL sessions. I have a lot of hair on my forearms and would like to get rid of some of it. However, reading about laser hair removal, I found out that only doing a couple sessions could leave me with sole random spots without hair.

The best devices are diode, yag, or Alex lasers.  NEWER IPLs have some improvement but arent as follicle specific.  If you only do a few treatments you may be left with patches.  Best, Dr. Emer.

For my patients, we use our Cutera Prowave IPL for hair reduction. It is very effective but no device totally removes all the hair. Most of our patients require around 6 treatments but it someone is particularly hairy then it may take longer. Usually patients shave the proposed treatment area before they come in so the the energy is really targeted at the hair follicle level. We tell our patients no tan or self tanner before the treatment. This is not a good treatment for naturally dark skinned patients because it may also target the dark skin color which is undesirable. Make sure to go to a medical office with experience.
