Is it possible to have a second gastric sleeve surgery, 3 years after the first one?

I was 100 pounds overweight, severely depressed and decided to look into gastric sleeve. Found my surgeon, we decided gastric sleeve was the right procedure for me, paid cash, got the surgery, recovered easily and I did very well until nine months ago, my work situation changed and I have regained 30+ pounds. I am a stress overeater. I want to be re-sleeved, is that possible? I cannot go back to the way I was. Will I get pushback from doctors? Is there a longterm medical risk?

Depending on the anatomy and the size of your sleeve you may qualify for "Re-Sleeve" or revision to Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass.
You need to be evaluated by a Bariatric Surgeon experienced in Revisional Bariatric Surgery.

A true “re-sleeve” is sometimes possible, but it is not commonly performed. Over time, the stomach pouch can stretch, and in selected cases a surgical revision may help restore restriction. The problem is not the sleeve, your sleeve is still probably working fine.  The problem is as you said it, you are over eating from stress.  you do not need to be re-sleeved, you need to change dietary habits.  You need to choose healthier foods to eat and start an exercise program that in addition to helping you lose weight, may help deal with stress better.  Consult with a dietician, and ask your doctor to prescribed appetite suppressant.  Another sleeve is not the answer.

in these cases it is possible to perform another VGS, but it would be ideal to carefully evaluate if you would benefit more from another type of bariatric surgery such as a gastric bypass or a conversion surgery. also a patient in this situation should be evaluated by a nutritionist in order to manage a proper plan for following diets and change of daily habits after surgery.
