Why is my porcelain veneers has a yellow tint to it ? I had pick the whitest shade.. my dentist told me it’s because my natural teeth was yellow so the porcelain is transparent too , it can be see thru my natural teeth . I was wondering is it true ? And I had to lateral teeth had a dark Color in the back ground due to Old crown I have ... I’m Not sure what to do next because I had 19 veneers done . Wanted them to be perfect .
Answer: Porcelain veneers CAN have translucency Sometimes it is a matter of "pick your poison". Natural teeth have a bit of translucency. It is what makes them have "vitality". Well made porcelain veneers mimic this, which allows the underlying tooth structure "shine thru". However, sometimes we want to HIDE the color underneath, so we use a more opaque porcelain. We usually avoid this as it makes veneers look a bit "fake" or unnatural.Without photos, I am making some assumptions.... It is likely the only solution is to remake some veneers, likely 10 upper (the smile zone) and make them more opaque. It will take a talented LAB as well as dentist to do it right.

Answer: It’s true If your veneers are translucent and your natural teeth are darker to begin with, then that darkness tint will show through your clear veneers. Several things could’ve been done prior to the final cementation to avoided your results. After all that investment, if you’re not happy, talk to your dentist again. I know I would’ve redone those veneers if you were my patient, no questions asked. my patients’ full satisfaction is what I, as a “cosmetic dentist” would strive for and I know my other “Cosmetic” dental colleagues would agree with me. Good luck and I hope you’ll receive a resolution that you’re pleased with.

Answer: Porcelain veneers look yellow and color does not match A picture of your veneers would be a great help in giving you advice. Depending on the way a porcelain veneer is fabricated, the underlying tooth color can effect the final appearance of the veneer once it is bonded to place. If the veneer is made translucent, the effect will be greater. Veneers can me made with different levels of opacity, the more opacity, the more the underlying tooth color will be masked by the veneer. There are also different levels of opacity in veneer cement. To mask out color of your tooth underneath the veneer, a more opaque cement should be chosen. If you wanted the whitest shade for your veneers, the dentist could also block out a dark or discolored tooth prior to taking final impressions for your veneers. Did your dentist let you see and approve the veneers before he bonded them to place? I would recommend that you and your dentist have a discussion about your concerns. See if you can come to an agreeable solution. 19 is a large number of veneers if they need to be replaced, and a lot of work for your dentist. He may require additional fees. His goal should be to make you happy so that you will refer others for his services. If you mention this to him, he may be more agreeable to making the changes you desire.
