In totality, I have loss about 85-90 lbs and this spare tire/lip situation will NOT budge. I am looking to dropping at least 30 more lbs. I want to make sure that liposuction is indeed something that will remove this "lip", volume from abdomen, and decrease my waist line in a less evasive way. not completely opposed to a tummy tuck BUT if one could be avoided I would go that route. Thank you in advance.
Answer: Losing the lip with lipo If you have a lot of sagging lower abdomen skin or if you have diastasic (loosened muscles after having kids), those will NOT be treated well with lipo alone. There's no bridges burned with lipo, you could certainly entertain having the lipo, and if you're not happy enough with the results, your path is still open to a tummy tuck down the road. If you want the sure thing, then you may not want to waste your time and move right onto tummy tuck.Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. Be certain your surgeon is properly certified. I've attached a link where you can start your search.

Answer: Liposuction Candidate--Body Contouring, Diet, Exercise, Surgery, VASER HI DEF 4D Liposculpture, Tummy Tuck, Skin Removal This is difficult to answer without pictures. For best results, it is recommended to be at your ideal or stable weight before getting a sculpting liposuction procedure. Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure, rather it is for sculpting and defining and removing problem areas that cannot be removed with weight loss and diet / exercise alone. With skin laxity, a tummy tuck or lifting procedure could be performed at the same time. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: I had a consult today and was told that AquaLipo could remove the volume in my stomach area. Can I lose the "lip" with lipo? Without pictures, you will only get educated guesses as to the best options. In general, massive weight loss patients have more of an issue with loose skin than just excess fat. If the lip you describe is excess skin hanging over your lower abdomen and mons, no form of liposuction will improve this-only a tummy tuck or circumferential body lift procedure will help. Aqua lipo is really no better and no worse than other forms of liposuction. They remove fat, but will not tighten loose skin. I would strongly recommend that you get other opinions from board certified plastic surgeons who have an interest in weight loss surgery. These doctors will be able to give you an honest opinion on the best procedure for you. Many spas or clinics run by non-plastic surgeons only do liposuction, so that is all they can ever offer even if it is not the best procedure for you.

The lip or bulge that you see is loose skin caused by your weight loss. Liposuction will not tighten a loose flap or lip of skin on the abdomen. Continue your weight loss until he reached her goal and then consider a tummy tuck to tighten the tummy and removed loose skin. To learn more about tummy tuck please read below:

Answer: Will liposuction get rid of the spare tire? Thank you for your question. Congratulations on your significant weight loss! Although you have not provided any photos, I imagine that you have a good bit of excess skin all over but especially at the bottom part of your abdomen. No form of liposuction will tighten the skin fully eliminating the spare tire. Exercise will also not tighten the skin. Unfortunately, a procedure such as a panniculectomy or tummy Tuck is the only thing that will tighten the skin to any significant degree. I recommend that you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon certified by the American board of plastic surgery to fully discuss your options. I recommend that you at least search the website of the doctor that you will be seeing and look to make sure that they are certified by the American board of plastic surgery. If it does not mention that they are certified by this board, then they most likely are not. I recommend that you see a surgeon that is extensively experienced in both liposuction and the tummy tuck procedure so that you can discussed the advantages and disadvantages of each and the expected outcome. Hopefully this helps. Best wishes!
