I’ve been told I have weird lips, my bottom lip sticks out a lot and my resting face looks unbalanced because of how my lips are shape. What do I need to do fix it? I’m open to natural solutions if possible too
Answer: Facial Sculpting Candidate -- Fillers, Threads, Fat Transfer, Implants, See an expert It's difficult to say without the benefit of a formal evaluation. This is my expertise and a huge portion of my practice. Asymmetry is normal and expected. See an expert who does facial shaping with surgical and non surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Answer: Lip augmentation Dear hxlng, I perform a lot of lip injections with fillers such as juvederm and it works great. Many times I need to put more in one side than the other to attempt to even out the vermillion border (The red line of the lip). This helps provide more symmetry at times. For patients looking for a more long lasting result, I recommend fat grafting. That is, using your own bodies fat to make your lips naturally look more shapely. The bonus is that the results last many many years. In general, I avoid using permanent prosthesis because I find that the lips are such dynamic and sensitive structures, the end result is not natural. Answer: Lip issues It’s important to know if you had a treatments.Have you ever had lip fillers? In one picture your left lower lip is bigger than the right and then the other picture your right lower lip is bigger than the left. Conservative augmentation of your upper lip may help get a better sense of balance so I generally believe most people have a bigger lower lip in relationship to the upper lip and this is an appropriate and desirable ratio. It is rare that I recommend only Augmentin with the upper lip but in your case that may be appropriate. It’s very important for us to know if you’ve had previous treatments to give an accurate assessment There is not very many great options to treat excessive fullness in the lips. Look for quality providers and have in person consultations. It may be challenging to get what you want. Sometimes accepting who you are and what you were born with can go a long way. It would also be helpful to get a very clear understanding of exactly what you’re trying to achieve. This really requires an in person consultation. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
