I have hypertrophic scars under my earlobes after facelift. How can I fix it? (Photo)

Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. I'm sorry that this has happened. But, surgical scars are certainly no surprise following an aggressive, invasive procedure such as a facelift. It's why I typically advise the use of nonsurgical rejuvenation procedures, such as volumizing and lifting fillers and Botox before jumping into expensive, aggressive surgery. An HD photo would have been helpful here. However, in general, the intralesional injection of anti-inflammatory agents is the first line treatment for hypertophic scars from any cause. The cost of a treatment session can vary with the concentration and amount of the anti-inflammatory needed or if a combination of anti-inflammatory agents may be needed to get the job done, as well as the location where you are treated. More than one treatment session is typically required for larger and thicker scars. You would be wise to consult with an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist and best of luck.
