I need help with my skin regimen for aging w/rosacea on and off. I clearly have no idea what I'm doing.

I want to buy the right form of Vitamin C, but am confused with how much ferulic and hylaronic acid it should have, or do I purchase things separately? currently I use an overpriced a serum by neocuticles and a cream for my face and alternate with Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta® Universal Daily Peel (I love the way it feels), and throw retin a in the mix. Can someone suggest something easier for me?

Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery.

I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. For rosacea, I like a combination approach, using lasers (ProYellow, Pulsed Dye/Vbeam, Excel V, Clear + Brilliant), peels and botox to the cheeks. This makes dramatic changes in color and symptoms. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

According to the Duke Antioxidant patent, in order for a vitamin C serum to be effective it must be formulated with pure L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C) at an acidic pH within the 2.0-3.5 pH range and have a concentration between 10-20%. Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory condition.There are typically many stages of rosacea therefore treatment with a skin care regime will depend on where you are in that cycyle.The beginning stage usually entails flushing and blushing and the standard of care is IPL and/or laser treatments.The next stage with progression can include little pimples and you will need prescirption medication from a dermatologist that might include a topical and/or oral antibioticsThe most important  cosmeceutical that should be used is a physical sunblock that will protect you from the triggers that can exacerbate rosacea.

Thank you for your question. I understand your frustration and confusion; there are so many products out there and it is hard to decipher what is good for YOU. For rosacea, I highly recommend a cleanser with green tea- this can soothe the inflammation. When you need to exfoliate, I would use a cleanser with glycolic acid rather than a scrub because it is irritating and can cause your rosacea to flare up. Retin A can irritate your rosacea too, but it is great for anti-aging. Everybody should use a hyaluronic acid and a vitamin C; you can buy these separately. It really will be trial and error for you because what is good for anti-aging is often irritating for rosacea. Best of luck to you!

There are a bewildering range of treatments offered for rosacea. In my clinic we've been using ZO Skincare for some years and generally get excellent results. The regime helps address the underlying problems in the skin. Rosacea (and ageing!) are long-term problems and to me the idea of having a treatment and then forgetting about it isn't realistic. With ZO you can have continuous treatment at home, and with regular review with your physician be maintained on the most suitable regime for your skin.
By all means look at all your options but if you have a physician who provides ZO in your area I would recommend you look at this - the potential benefits of skin creams are overlooked too often.

Without a photo it is difficult to suggest treatment for your rosacea. Are you having just redness? Breakouts? Acne? Enlarged pores? Is it hormonal? I suggest a formal evaluation by a board certified dermatologist who specializes in rosacea. In general topical Vitamin C serum and a prescription product such as Soolantra are highly effective.  The V-Beam laser helps reduce the redness effectively.  Please consult an expert in Rosacea. If you really have rosacea you should be very careful ot retinoids and use only once or twice a week. Use a mild cleanser such as Cetaphil, apply plain vitamin C in the morning (Skinceuticals) and a sunscreen.
