Breast fat transfer - Would I be able to keep my nipple piercings?

Hi Im actually going for a consultation in June 6th 2026 but im wondering if Ill be able to keep my nipple piercings in using a plastic retainer to prevent them from closing. I have other piercings as well so im curious if i have to leave out all of them or if i can just use plastic non conductive ones in instead.

I totally get it the last thing you want is for all that healing time to go to waste because a hole closed up during surgery! When it comes to the nipple piercings specifically, most surgeons will ask you to take them out completely for the procedure. Since they’re right in the "work zone," any jewelry (even plastic) can trap bacteria or get in the way of the sterile prep. For your other piercings, like ears or nose, plastic retainers are usually a great workaround to avoid issues with the electrical equipment we use in the OR. My best advice is to keep a sterile taper or some jewelry in your recovery bag; you can usually pop them back in pretty quickly after you wake up, and a few hours of "naked" piercings shouldn't be enough for them to close for good. Definitely double-check with your specific clinic on June 6th, as some have stricter "no-nothing" rules than others!
