Can you have a PAP flap or other procedure after 50% success on a DIEP flap surgery?

Hi I had DIEP flap surgery and only one of my breasts was successfully completed and they had to place an implant on the other. I completely dislike the feel of implants and would like to know if it would be possible to consider a different type of flap procedure e.g. PAP flap for the breast with the implant? Also how many years do I need to wait after the DIEP flap to consider getting my second breast reconstructed with a different flap procedure. Thanks

PAP Flap (using inner thigh fat) can be the perfect solution after a failed DIEP Flap. One or both thighs can be used to restore the volume and give you the same natural feel on both breasts. This would be my top recommendation in someone in your situation!

Thank you for your question.  Yes, if a DIEP flap fails a PAP flap can be used as a subsequent procedure to reconstruct the breast.  It is important to discuss your case with a plastic surgeon who can provide a full evaluation and determine if a PAP flap is the best option for you.  Typically you should wait 6 months to a year for the area to heal before proceeding with additional surgery.  Best of luck !
