I'm using tretinoin cream for 2 days now. And I accidentally washed my face with facial scrub and my face sting, burning, redness, especially to my mustache area. And this morning still sting and redness still there. Please help me. Can I use tretinion cream tonight?

I always recommend that my patients are careful to avoid scrubs and irritating cleansers when using topical retinoids for precisely the reasons you are experiencing! Given that your skin is still irritated, I would suggest using a gentle cleanser and moisturizer until the irritation has calmed down. Once the irritation has subsided, I would resume your tretinoin.

Thank you for your question. A common side effect of tretinoin is skin irritation, redness, peeling, or dryness. Using scrubs or other acne products meant to exfoliate can cause irritation to worsen. I would stop using all products and use gentle facial cleansers and lotion. However, if the redness and irritation persists for 1-2 weeks, then I highly recommend you consult with a board certified dermatologist to have your skin evaluated. Take care and good luck.
