Does starting Finasteride one week before hair transplant for 6 months minimize shock loss? (P.S. have never used fins before).

Every surgeon will have different pre- post operation methods. I suggest my patients to quit supplements begore their operations.

You need to understand the risks and benefits. The main risk here are side effects of finasteride and the possibility of hair loss after stopping. I am not a great fan of short term finasteride as some patients shed after stopping.

I have no experience about that, however I don't think that finasteride would minimize shock loss after the procedure. So I dont recommend ths treatment to my patients .. But PRP treatment may help to minimize shock loss.

Finasteride use does help minimize shock loss post hair transplant. It can be started pre or post op.

Starting finasteride at least one week before a hair transplant will significantly reduce the risk of shock loss, Finasteride will continue to protect you against progressive hair loss if you continue it
