My smile is crooked, one side raises higher, what can I do?

Crooked smiles can be the result of many causes. One of the most common, which by the way is often not recognized by dentists, is damage to the Temporomandibular Joint(s) (TMJ) causing Temporomandibular Dysfunction (TMD). In this situation the growth plate on the higher side would be damaged causing that side of the mandible to not grow as much as the opposite side. The bones would grow to compensate for this disharmony. To determine if this is the cause of your crooked smile would require an examination by a dentist who understands TMD.
