Hello, I had a crown lengthening procedure for cosmetic reasons five days ago. Immediately after the procedure it was slightly swollen but the gumline did not look rounded it looks like a shark fin. I was concerned but the doctor said it was good. Five days later the shape is still the same and I am worried that this is now the permanent shape of my gumline. There is a picture attached and the stitches are still in place. As my gum heels will the shape change and be more rounded, is this normal?

Hi:The answer is most likely yes. However, without photo and X-ray it is difficult to give an accurate advice. Please post photo and X-ray of the tooth.Best,
Hello and thank you for your question. More information is need, but in general, porcelain veneers with wrap around could help you. I would consider FIRST additional aligners (what used to be called a refinement) in order to align teeth better AND make your teeth fit better. All the best to you.
It is normal to have a dull ache with a temporary crown. The margins are not sealed properly with a temporary and because of the work that has been done, tooth can be sensitive up to 2 weeks. Always discuss your issues with your dentist before your permanent crown is cemented.
