Is it normal to get flaky skin and dandruff after breast augmentation? And how long does it take to go away?

I noticed dandruff I'm my hair 2 weeks after my breast augmentation. I've never had dandruff in my life. Also my skin all over my body is extra flaky as well. Is this normal or common? And how long until it clears up?

Hi, The body goes through a lot of changes while recovering from surgery.  Dry skin on the body and dandruff are not typical, although dry skin and flaking on the breast which occurs because the skin swells and stretches after surgery  is not uncommon.  I would suggest using moisturizers and waiting it out.  It should get better if it was not a problem before the surgery.  Good Luck  Dr Bev

Your dandruff and dry skin may be related to the antiseptic soap if you were instructed to use one by your surgeon. Otherwise is unlikely to be related to your surgery.
