I was prescribed mirvaso when it first came out. I've read so many negative things online since about rebound flushing problems, I'm wondering if dermatologists still recommend using it for rosacea.
Answer: Mirvaso and Roscaea It is prescribed by many for redness, but i never use because it can cause irritation and it doesn't give any long term solution. best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Mirvaso for Rosacea Rosacea is a very complex condition with many factors and many subtypes. Mirvaso is only effective on vascular rosacea, progressive and resistant redness. I like to explain Mirvaso as a "Band-Aid for this type of rosacea." For some patients, they apply Mirvaso and the redness reduces for 10-12 hours. The redness will return to baseline after that period of time. I also say that this treatment does not work on all patients due to the complexity of this condition. I generally recommend IPL as a more permanent treatment for vascular rosacea and don't use Mirvaso very often, but I do have several patients that are happy with it.

Answer: Mirvaso for vascular rosacea Mirvaso or Onreltea in Canada is a treatment for vascular rosacea, when there is persistent redness of the face. I have many patients that are happy with it, and the occasional patient that is not. It is topical and very safe, so worth a try. Apply in morning, kicks in at 30min, and lasts anywhere between 6-12 hours. If you have prominent vessels/capillaries, then laser or light-based treatment is more effective.

Answer: Yes , it is. Rosacea management is not as simple as a cream or even a laser. Read more... Rosacea is very complex and a tailored treatment program give the best results. This is because there are many types of rosacea (telengtctatic or capillaries, flushing and redness, acne like rosacea, ocular rosacea and even rhinophyma rosacea.) To add to the complexity, everyone has different flare factors- Sunlight, stress, foods, chemical irritants, creams, changes in temperature, alcohol. The list goes on. A detailed history, together with a treatment tailored according to YOUR type of rosacea will give the best results. As a guide, I use a combination of - 1. Lasers ( to treat redness, broken capillaries, rhinophyma, flushing)- best laser is the V BEAM. IPL can be used, but usually not as effective. Laser toning using the long pulse Nd Yag at 1064 can help with background redness. 2. Creams - anti inflammatory 3. Tablets -anti - inflammatory and sometimes low dose Vitamin A. 4. For females- Mineral make up is recommend, over make up that contains parabens. For the best results, consult a dermatologist for both medical and laser treatment options. Kind regards. Dr Davin S.
