Had laser tattoo removal. Is it true that it takes up to 6 weeks to see significant fading?

I had laser tattoo removal 3 days ago with the Medlite c6 q-switched 1064 nm laser. I don't really see much fading yet, however, the doctor that did the procedure told me that it will take 6 weeks to fade the tattoo. Is it true that I will continue to see more fading in the next weeks to come or is what I see today pretty much the finished result until I do another laser session? Thank you so much.

Laser takes many treatments to see the results.  Pico lasers make the results appear a little quicker but still take time.  With the new micropen TR im seeing results faster and this is particularly useful for colors that the laser cant get or for those who want only a few treatments to get best results.  Dr. Emer.

Hi BullsFan.  Yes, fading does take time.  During laser tattoo removal, the large ink particles that are deposited when the tattoo is placed are heated to the point where they split apart into smaller particles.  These smaller particles are then "digested" by the immune system over a period of weeks (and even months) so fading does take time.  For pour patients that are not in as much of a hurry but are more price sensitive, we even have them go 3-6 months between treatments so that more fading can occur between treatments. Great question!
After having laser tattoo removal it does take your body a few weeks to ride
itself of the damaged ink particles. I recommend you look into the Picosure laser. It is the latest laser in tattoo removal and often times requires less treatments then other technologies. My suggestion is to stay on course with
your treatment and make sure you visit a qualified physician. Good Luck.
