I had Hylenex injected in to a lump of filler - hard lump.

Hi Sdeen.  It could still be product or it could be a granuloma.  The two options are hyaluronidase products like Hyelenex (we prefer Vitrase) and steroid injections.  If the product was Voluma, we have begun to hear of more cases where granulomas are occurring and where they are difficult to dissolve with Vitrase like products.  It may take a series of injections with Hyaluronidase or steroid injections.  Best of luck.

I would consult your doctor and get evaluated. This is not a typical response after hyalurnonidase. A granuloma is an inflammatory, red, tender nodule and requires antibiotics, 5FU, hyaluronidase, and steroids. 

You need to talk to your provider about the timing of when the lump formed.  If it is only a few days, it could be some bruising etc...  If bruising isn't a consideration then it is most likely to be caused by the filler and first course of action would be to try dissolving with hyaluronidase which could take a series of treatments depending on which filler was used.  If it doesn't resolve with hyaluronidase then your proivder should suggest other options.

Hi sdeen, Your doctor would want to know when you first had the filler because it may just be a collection of hardened filler which can be dissolved by several treatments of hyaluronidase. True granulomas from substances that naturally occur in the body (such as hyaluronic acid) are rare, but occasionally happen. Granulomas can be treated with steroids or excised.
