Hi Nikki. We recently changed our protocol after looking at new research about laser treatments and photosensitizing drugs. A photosensitizing drug like Flagyl will make you more sensitive to sunlight. This is why (in the past) we had patients take several days off before undergoing laser treatments.More recently we have looked at research that relates only UV (sunlight) to the sensitivity and not other wavelengths of light (810 Diode, 755 Alexandrite and 1064 Yag) that are commonly used for laser hair removal. For this reason, we do NOT require our patients to be off of this drug (and many others like it) before laser hair removal.
