After the peeling takes place from a VI peel, is it normal to have inflamed sensitive skin underneath in some spots? (Photo)

 I recommend following up with your practitioner about aftercare recommendations. We have a strict post peel regimen for patients and it has a more significant post healing moisturizer, b5 and C serums and growth factors. PDT therapy can calm inflammation. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

It looks from the photo that you are ok and do not have an infection--though it is hard to say for sure without actually seeing you.  The redness and itchiness is normal, as new baby skin gets exposed after the top layers peel off.  It is common to have it happen around the mouth because the skin will peel more rapidly here due to all the movement.  
Make sure to stay out of the sun and wear sunscreen.  If you expose those new, fresh skin cells to too much UV light they will react by producing more melanin and you will get hyperpigmentation.  In general, the redness produced by the peel is not enough trauma to cause post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.  However, picking or peeling the skin off too soon can so leave it alone and let your skin flake off at its own rate.

Thank you for your question! It is normal to start peeling on the 3-4 day especially around the mouth. Everyone will peel differently depending on your skin and any skin product you are currently using. If you did not peel well this time, do not be discouraged. Try another Vi peel in 6-8 weeks.
