I’m 20 years old, 5’10 and weigh 230 pounds. I’m also prediabetic. I’ve been struggling with my weight for a long time. I’ve been overweight for years and just recently became obese. I have attempted to lose weight through changing my exercise and diet, but I haven’t succeeded in reaching my goals.
Answer: Gastic Sleeve, Gastric Bypass and Gastric Balloon Given your BMI of 33.0, your prediabetic status, and your history of struggling with weight despite efforts to change your diet and exercise, you may qualify for a procedure like gastric sleeve surgery or gastric bypass surgery. These options are particularly effective in addressing obesity-related conditions, such as prediabetes, and can provide significant and sustained weight loss when combined with lifestyle changes. If you’re not ready to consider surgery, you might explore a gastric balloon as a temporary, non-surgical option. This could help you lose weight and improve your prediabetic condition while working on long-term habits.

Answer: Am I a candidate for gastric bypass surgery? Hello, I hope you are well. Based on your height and weight your calculated BMI is 33, which categorizes you as Obese type I. Although you would need to be evaluated by a certified bariatric surgeon, you would most probably not qualify for a bypass, as a higher BMI would be required along with other factors, such as properly established diabetes. However, it appears you would qualify for a gastric sleeve. Hope this answer was helpful. Please don't hesitate to contact us if any other doubts come up.

Answer: Candidate for surgery Hi there, you are a good candidate for a Bariatric procedure, and there are a lot of them, like Gastric Bypass, Gastric Plication, or VSG (Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy). I suggest you have a consult with a certified Bariatric Surgeon, so we can recommend the surgery that best suits your needs, taking into consideration your age, your underlying medical conditions, and your goals. In your case, I would recommend considering a VSG (Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy) this surgery will help you to have better-eating habits, control your prediabetes and have a healthier lifestyle. At 230 Lbs. and 5'10 the BMI is 33 Kg/m2, this establishes a diagnosis of obesity class I, and the sleeve gastrectomy has shown to be a very effective metabolic procedure in obesity remission helping you to achieve a healthier lifestyle. I hope you can find the results you are looking for! You'll do great!- A.L
