What can I do to fix these holes in my teeth near the gum line? They appeared out of nowhere

White spots on your teeth are more than likely hypo calcification, or weakening of the enamel. Demineralization, secondary from changes in the oral environment, weakens the tooth, making it more susceptible to decay/cavities. Without proper hygiene, it is difficult, if not impossible, to remove the bacteria that release demineralizing acid as a by-product. I've worked at a hospital for almost 5 years, and its not very common that to be admitted to the hospital for that long of a period of time, unless you have had major medical problems. You should see your restorative dental specialist as soon as you can, as the problem can progress without treatment.
