ND YAG LASER - is this level of burn normal/possible for laser treatment when not experienced during previous treatments?(photo)

I am trying to ascertain whether the burns I was left with after my most recent appointment last week are normal. The practitioner kept the laser at the same level strength as previous sessions but while I have experienced minor scabbing before, I have never had anything to this extent. I am now left with scarring that I don't feel will go without further treatment. What could possible causes be such as make-up, skin type changing etc? Please get in touch with your thoughts.
