I have dreadlocks that I would like to keep but my hairline is receding in an M shape hairline and the crown is thining out. I would like to know if it is possible to restore my hairline or even make my forehead slightly smaller along with restoring the fullness to the crown of my head, all whilst keeping my dreadlocks. Willing to travel for the right solution
Answer: Transplant with dreadlocks The answer to your query depends on several factors: 1) Your genetics (what does the hair of your father and/or male siblings look like?) 2) Are you taking propecia? 3) Are you ever considering shaving your hair? 4) Do you want FUE hair or FUT if you choose to have one or more hair transplants? You really would benefit from a face to face consultation with an experienced & well-trained hair surgeon.

Answer: Hair transplant to restore hairline and thinning crown Hair transplant can be an option for forehead reduction, correcting receding hair line and asymmetry on your frontal hair line/forelock.I advice you have a FUE; you would get the desired hairline in just one session of dense packing hair transplant. We have to shave the donor area hair short, otherwise dr can not harvest the grafts one by one in FUE technique. You would have a long, 2-4 mm widht pretty visible scar on back of your head in FUT technique (which I never use that technique any more) , because doctor has to cut your skin to harvest a strip of skin as a source of grafts and suture this skin gap to close .I have to say that you would have no benefit with HT for crown area, because there is not enough hair loss or sparse/bald area to restore. If you decide to have a hair restoration surgery, area will not be as dense as natural hair, also have a risk of permanent hair follicles damage.

Answer: Dreadlocks A live examination is required for a conclusive evaluation, however, that frontal region and crown looks like it would be better to treat the thinning using medication and not surgery. There seems to be a significant amount of thinning hairs that could be thickened via medical treatment using minoxidil and/or finasteride, while avoiding surgery which could damage the existing hairs and make it even worse. Transplanting the hairline could be done as there is nothing to shave. The FUT (strip) method could be used to avoid shaving most of the dreadlocks at the donor area.

Answer: Dreadlocks Dreadlocks are often places that bacteria reside and this will increase your risk of infection in any hair transplant. A strip surgery might avoid the dreads, but that is a decision between you and your surgeon
