Hi, and thank you for your question. I would strongly recommend against drinking anything other than plain water with your trays in place. Anytime you drink something with your trays in your mouth, it creates a reservoir, and some of that liquid will stay in the trays, and in constant contact with your teeth. When you add things such as lemon juice that has a pH of around 2, or mint/ginger which have a pH of around 5.5, you are increasing the chance for damage of your enamel and for cavities (cavities occur when bacterial breakdown of sugar creates acid, which breaks down enamel). With over 15 years experience in prescribing my patients Invisalign, I would much rather you take out your trays for a few minutes while you drink your warm beverage, rinse, and then re-insert your trays.Best of luck with your treatment... -Dr. Alvarez
Drinking will be OK with your aligners in. No restrictions as long as you don’t forget to take your aligners out to clean and brush your teeth
Luke warm water is okay. Ginger and mint should be okay too. I'd be careful with something as acidic as lemon juice. Don't need to be dissolving your teeth.
