Is my change in skin texture from IPL or skin care routine?

I have noticed a recent change in the texture of my skin around my mouth with more open pores and a number of deep vertical lines at the side of my mouth. had an IPL hair removal treatment 8 weeks ago (7th treatment) Could the treatment have damaged my skin? For skin care I am using a Niacinimide 10% and Zinc 1% treatment in the morning before my moisturiser for some hormonal acne and a retinoid treatment at night again before moisturiser. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks

IPL is not associated with the skin changes you are describing. However, the retinoid cream can cause skin dryness that make fine lines and wrinkles appear more visible. If you are new to retinoids this dryness will slowly subside with continued use. We generally advise patients to ease into the use of retinoids by starting every third night and working up to a nightly routine. Also, be sure that you are only using a small pea sized amount and adding a good source of extra moisture to the skin. Best of luck to you.
