Can you have breast implants if you have naturally lumpy breasts?

Question

Hello, I have naturally lumpy breasts, I think this is the breast tissue? I also have a lump in the side of my left breast which had been diagnosed as fibroadenomas. Do any of these effect being able to have implants? Thank you.

Hi meemee93, I understand your concern. However, it would be difficult to ascertain the best course of action to achieve your breast goals through online consultation. It would be best to consult a board certified plastic surgeon for proper assessment and to discuss your options. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Thank you for the question.  Generally speaking, lesions such as cysts or fibroadeomas that have been worked up and found to be a benign  should not prohibit you from proceeding with breast augmentation surgery.

Lumpy breasts will not have any significant adverse effect on your breast augmentation result. However, a photo or two may be helpful in determining which surgery would best give you the desired result you are looking for. The best course of action would be to schedule an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon for an in person examination and a detailed discussion of your surgical options.

Lumpy breasts or a fibroadenoma shouldn’t prevent a breast augmentation, but it would be recommended for you to be reviewed by a breast surgeon/clinic (which may include further investigation such as an ultrasound) prior to your procedure. You could consider whether you would like the fibroadenoma excised at the time of surgery.Good luck with your treatment.
