Combining microdermabrasion and a chemical peel should only be done in an office where there is physician supervision, because this is an aggressive combination. When the two are done together, it is not unusual for patients to experience some redness and sloughing. Scratch marks usually heal well with scars. However, it is important that you only use very mild products on your face (i.e. no retinols, etc.) until the skin is completely healed. It is also very important that you use a good physical-block sunscreen (I like Elta MD) and that you reapply frequently.
