Front of my nose has lost shape: the tip is too big and blobby. Will the shape and tip change and how much?

4 weeks since my op, 3 weeks since cast removal & I am horrified with the look of my nose. Aim: remove the bump so it appears straighter, raise the tip by 2mm to help this & to remove *slightly* cartilage from the left side of the nose for symmetry. I know my nose will continue to change but I fear not as much as I want. It was highly important to keep the triangular shape of my nose yet this has gone; the tip looks like a clown's nose. Can I get the old shape of my nose back from the front?

Thank you for your question. 4 weeks is still much too soon to see the final results. Your nose is clearly straightened and the dorsum is smooth. Tip swelling lasts for many months, and there isn’t much that can be done at this point except be patient. Your surgeon is the best person to explain the healing process to you. He knows exactly what was done and should be most helpful at this point. Be patient, and see him as often as you need to. Best of luck.

This is very early in the post operative period. Your tip and dorsum will get a lot better over the next few months. Please be patient and discuss your concerns with your surgeon. All The Best !

Thank you for your question. You have to give your body more time to heal, four weeks is still too early to judge your final results.Typically, the initial swelling after nose surgery subsides within two to three weeks.  However, residual swelling, especially in the tip of the nose, can take about a year to resolve as the contour refines. Swelling can also vary through the day, being more prominent in the morning. Try and be patient as your body continues to heal.

At one month there is certainly some swelling within the nasal tip. It can take months depending on skin thickness for the swelling to come down.  Make sure you regularly followup with your rhinoplasty surgeon.
