One 12 crown bridge or three separate 4 crown bridges? (Photo)

Question

I have six implants on my lower and am planning on getting zirconium crowns. One dentist I spoke to says I have two options. I can either have one 12 crown bridge, or three separate 4 crown bridges. What are the pros and cons of each option?

Without question, I would choose the three four unit bridges.  The shorter span the bridge the better in these situations.  Best of luck.

It's always best to have a shorter spanning bridge when possible!  It's hard to give you all of your options without having completed a proper exam of you, however, I would also recommend getting a second opinion on what your treatment options are!

I would choose the 3 four unit bridges. You have 6 implants and I assume the 2 remaining teeth will be extracted? Technically it is easier to make shorter bridges than a full 12 unit bridge. Thus, you get more accuracy and a better bite. Hope this helps.

Hi:Normally the problem with a single long span bridges is if there is decay with any part of the bridge it can effect multiple teeth.  Also when you go across the midline with a bridge there will be too much pressure on the bridge.  My recommendation is to have multiple separate bridges.Best,Dr. Maddahi
