I have my pre-op in 2 weeks. I have a 1yr old baby and plan to try again for another child in 1.5 yrs. I have a very obvious assymetry. After BF the larger is very saggy with tons of extra skin. The smaller looks fine. My PS is going to do a lift on 1 and augmentation on both. I'm am finiacially able to pay for Them now but when we have another child I don't know if I will be able to. I figure anything would be better than what I have now. What do implants look like after pregnancy?
Answer: Will my breast implants look decent after pregnancy? Thank you for the question.Unfortunately there is no way to predict exactly how a patient's breasts will change after pregnancy. A good indication may be to evaluate the changes that occurred with your mother's breasts after her pregnancies (although this is not foolproof either). It may be helpful to keep your weight as stable as possible (under the guidance of your OB/GYN) to prevent significant changes with the breasts related to the weight changes. You should also consider postponing having the breast augmentation if you think you may have pregnancies in the near future.Anecdotally, in our practice, we have seen many patients have pregnancies, and not require additional breast surgery subsequently. On the other hand, we've seen many patients who experienced classic post partum breast changes such as decreased breast tissue volume (" involutional hypoplasia") and/or breast sagging ("ptosis"). I hope this, and the attached link (dedicated to post pregnancy concerns), helps.

Answer: Breast surgery and pregnancy Everyone is different regarding the effect pregnancy and breast feeding will have on your breasts. You may be fine or you may need a revision later, and that's true even if you don't have another pregnancy. You should consider these factors, but overall, I would not discourage you from proceeding with the surgery at this time.

Answer: Breast augmentation If you want to have your breasts augmented now, then it is reasonable. There is no predicting the future. If you do end up having another child, the breast shape will likely change somewhat. It does not mean that you will need surgery at that point however.

Answer: Pregnancy and Breast augmentation Thanks for your question.bottom line:wait until after pregnancy if you can to have your breast augmentation.reasons: 1) the bigger you go the faster you fall. The weight of the implant and your natural engorgement will increase the size of your breasts thus when breast feeding is complete your breasts will have stretched out the skin...potentially a "rock in a sock" and you may require a Breast lift(mastopexy)2) though there is no scientific evidence that breast augmentation is harmful during pregnancy. However you may experience recurrent asymmetry of the breasts with the normal hormonal changes that occur during pregnancy.3)most likely you will require some type of "enhancement" procedure on your breasts after pregnancy (lift, balancing procedure, increasing size, etc.) There is is no "right or wrong" answer. You have to weigh the advantages and disadvantages. Only you can make the final decision. If you still have questions... Make a second consult with a Bd. Cert. Plastic Surgeon. My best wishes

Answer: Breast augmentation and pregnancy Thank you for your question. During pregnancy the size and shape of the breast will change. This will also be reflected post pregnancy and if you choose to breast feed. To make any prediction as to how your breasts will change after augmentation and later pregnancy would be pure speculation as all patients are different. You may wish to discuss your concerns with you plastic surgeon prior to surgery in order to put your mind more at ease with your decision.Best regards,Dr. Lane F.
