Did my dentist mess up my temporary crowns? (photos)

Question

1 tooth is crooked, he caked on the material on my gumline in front and behind teeth.he left a gap in between my teeth and you can see it jagged and rough. I'm not sure what to do at this point and its causing me anxiety. Is this how temporary crowns are supposed to look? What should I do? Should I have the permanent crowns done by another dentist?

I’m my opinion, temporary crowns should look and feel like the tooth/teeth they are covering. Unfortunately, that’s not what you have. Here is my suggestion. Let him try the definitive crowns on and make sure you look at them before he cements them in. If you’re not 100% satisfied, do NOT let him cement them. At that point you’ll need to decide whether or not he should be the one who fixes your front teeth. Your decision should be obvious. If you’re not happy, find another dentist.

Temporary crowns are just that, temporary.  That is the ONLY thing that should be different about temps.   They are made of plastic and not enamel /  porcelain. Provisional teeth either mimic exactly what was there, or are better than what was there. These temps give you teeth to smile, laugh, love and eat with, i.e. so you can have your normal life while new crown(s) are being made.  (In our office our patients ALWAYS look better when they leave in temps.  That is a goal of ours.) Beside how they look, you have another issue and that is your gums. Food is likely getting trapped, making your gums sore while the lack of a good fit at the gum line is making your gums swollen and unhealthy.  My recommendation is that you go back and have new temps made.  That will show you if the office is capable and committed to the cosmetic work they probably has told you they can deliver.  So far, they are not helping you, nor are they demonstrating that you will have two beautiful front teeth when your treatment is complete.
