I just had my teeth whitener and I was wondering, am I allowed to have any of the following: apples, oats, brown rice, brown sugar and chicken cooked with olive oil, but no spices? Thank You for your time

Answer: Stains from Foods/Drinks after Whitening Hello! Yes! Those are great items to eat. You're on the right path by avoiding foods with bright pigments. Neutral colored and pH foods and beverages are best for you to achieve optimum results. Stray from red sauces, mustards, red wines, etc. The whitening can make the teeth a porous and therefore can hold stain easier. Tea is another culprit! Be careful while you are bleaching and a few days after and you will be fine. Good Luck! I wish you the best and brightest. Smiles, Dr. Shelton

Answer: Eating after whitening It is great you are so diligently following the after care instructions. Providing the food only has a pale colour, it is safe to eat after whitening. The reason why strong coloured foods are best avoided for 1-2 weeks post whitening is because the procedure makes the teeth more porous and so they can pick up staining from food more easily.
