Do I need to take Finesteride or Propecia after hair transplant?

You do not need to take finasteride before or after surgery.  Finasteride is an elective medication than may be recommended by your doctor.

It's not required, but it is generally recommended for males, especially if they are younger. Finasteride does a good job of preventing shock loss following a transplant surgery. Otherwise it's likely you'll lose a significant amount of your remaining natural hair.

Absolutelly not , I never recommend it for using to stop shock loss after HT. You may have Post finasteride syndrome, occurs in men who’ve taken finasteride to treat hair loss by a chance of %4-5.

Also, information such as your family hairloss history as well as your preventative regimen that you are on such as minoxidil use and other topicals would be helpful.

If you are young and still have hair on top of your head, then yes.  If not, you risk losing the hair you still have on top of your head.  Finesteride won't affect the grafts, but you want to maintain as much thickness as possible.  If you are over 60 and your hairloss has been stable for 10 or more years, then maybe not. Finasteride is a good medication with good benefits for maintaining hair, especially in the crown. Taking it is up to you and having a good discussion with you doctor.

If you are under 35, the risk of hair transplant shock loss is significant and the drug finasteride works well to prevent it in most situations, The younger you are, the greater the risk.
