How much weight do I have to lose in order to get approved for gastric sleeve?

I'm 5'4 I was 246 on the 13th with a BMI of 42.91 now on the 27th I'm 244 with a BMI of 41.9 how much weight will I continue to have to loose over the course of all the appointments and things to prepare for the surgery

Patients are required to do a preop diet for a certain amount of time before their surgery. The goal is to shrink your liver in size and make the surgery feasible. Yes, you will lose some wait before surgery and this normally varies between 5-10% of your current weight. Thanks for your time and question.Regarding your questions its not mandatory to loose certain amount of weight before surgeryWe recommend patience to do follow up with a diet before surgery just to shrink your liver. Since you are overweight, so is your liver. And, as mentioned above, a large liver increases your surgical risk shrinking your liver makes your surgery safer, and prepares your for your diet after the gastric sleeve.I always  recommend to follow with your certified bariatric surgeon’s recommended diet prior the surgery.Hope that you can get your surgery and start a new journey.

There is no specific amount of weight loss mandated by insurance companies before approving weight loss surgery.  Certainly we recommend weight loss for super obese patients, but you aren't in that category.  The more weight you lose before surgery, the easier your operation will be; but as you are now, it won't be a problem anyway.
