I have PCOS plus keloids on my body. Could I have laser treatment to get rid of unwanted hair?

Hi, I have excess facial & body hair due to having PCOS...I went to a few high class clinics to ask for laser to get rid of the unwanted hair, but was sadly refused due to having keloids...I was told that they didn't want to risk me breaking out in keloids on my face, so refused to do it...what other options do I have? I currently get my face waxed every other day, and really tired of doing that...any advice would be of help x

I would start with an endocrinologist to stabilize the PCOS.  If it isn't under control, then the hair might not respond to laser treatment; it would keep regrowing.  I also wouldn't go to clinics.  Find a board certified dermatologist and get treatment by him/her.  You might want to start with a test spot and check how it heals.  It should be in a less conspicuous spot, such as the jaw near the hairline.

Hello! If you have previously had a keloid or have keloid prone skin any injury, even one as minor as a simple cut, burn or acne lesion can lead to Keloid formation so it is understandable why you would have been declined treatment. Laser Hair Reduction treatment is a possibility with PCOS, however you have to remember that because of the hormonal fluctuations there are no guarantees on how many treatments would be required or the efficacy of the treatments since excessive hair growth is a side effect of PCOS, the goal would be to reduce the hair thickness and increase the duration of time between treatments. My recommendation would be for you to visit a board certified dermatologist who can decide whether you are a candidate for LHR with your history of Keloids and PCOS and to follow up with your OB/GYN and endocrinologist for treatment of the PCOS symptoms..
