I am a 18 year old black male and my hairline is receding my hairline was always a v shape even when i was a child my father is bald and my mother is losing her hairline aswell

At least twice a week I have an 18-year-old call my office regarding a hair transplant. I believe an 18-year-old should consider preventative hair loss therapy before considering a hair transplant. Obviously if you are a Norwood four or worse at the age of 18 or 20 years old, then yes if it’s affecting your every day confidence, I would recommend proceeding with a hair transplant. There are many treatments out there that you can take or try to prevent hair loss before you decide on moving forward with a hair transplant at such a young age. I would recommend the vitamin BIOTIN, I would recommend a derma roller, and possibly a laser hair helmet. I think it’s important to understand that once you get a hair transplant you can never shave your head again. Thus I prefer that my patients be at least on a Norwood 4 scale or older than 23 years old.
