At this point, the majority of the transplanted hair has already grown, but not matured. The maturation of transplanted hair refers to its darkening, thickening, and normalizing. I would suggest waiting a few more months. For some patients, it will take longer for the hairs to emerge and mature in density and thickness. This is especially true when you undergo transplants in the mid-scalp or crown region. These areas grow and mature slower than those in the front, and it may take a full 18 months to see the final results in these regions. Speak to your surgeon about your concerns and medical treatment with minoxidil and/or finasteride. In my opinion, they can be the cornerstone of a successful treatment plan.
